VANCE JOY’s Dream Your Life Away is now certified Platinum

It might be hard to believe, but it’s been one whole year since Vance Joy released his debut album Dream Your Life Away. Last Friday, one year and one day on from the album’s original release, Vance Joy unveiled a special, Deluxe Edition of the album, which includes current single ‘Fire and the Flood’.

The last year has been no ordinary one for the Melbourne musician.  Instead, it has been filled with a number of significant achievements.  Today, that long list grows even longer, with two more accolades to add to the tally.  Dream Your Life Away is now officially certified PLATINUM via ARIA with sales totalling over 70,000, whilst current single ‘Fire and the Flood’ is officially certified GOLD (35,000+ sales), this week receiving its highest chart position yet at #6.

The milestone achievement for Dream Your Life Away sees Vance Joy join a very elite list of Australian musicians who have been awarded platinum status this year for an album released in 2014, joining Chet Faker with Built On Glass and SIA with 1000 Forms Of Fear. Dream Your Life Away has not dropped out of the ARIA Top 100 since release.

The local chart this week for ‘Fire and the Flood’ equals Vance Joy’s highest single chart to date (for ‘Riptide’). It also took out the #1 spot on the National Airplay Chart this week. As well as kicking goals locally, ‘Fire and the Flood’ is off to a similarly strong start in the US, where it was the #1 Most Added Song at AAA (alternative radio) the week of servicing, playlisted at over 25 US radio stations including KROQ.

Over the last year, since Dream Your Life Away was released, ‘Riptide’ has been certified 5x platinum in Australia, also taking out the record for the longest standing single in the Top 100 of the ARIA Singles Chart; ‘Georgia’ was released, reached #15 on the ARIA charts and won platinum accreditation; whilst ‘Mess Is Mine’ claimed gold status, now fast approaching platinum. Vance Joy sold out his Australian album tour in April, not to mention headline tours in Canada, the US, the UK and Europe, and also scored the coveted main support for Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour – which he is currently in the midst of and will see him perform over 70 shows at stadiums throughout Canada, the US, the UK, Europe and Australia this year.

The Deluxe Edition of Dream Your Life Away features twenty songs across two discs, complete with new artwork and behind-the-scene photographs.  In addition to the original 13 album tracks on disc one, disc two includes ‘Fire and the Flood’, another brand new recording ‘Straight Into Your Arms’ and five exclusive live recordings of original album tracks.

Australian fans will be able to see Vance Joy performing with Taylor Swift in late November.
