THE TEMPER TRAP Return to the Top of the Charts with #1 ARIA Album Debut

Aussie rockers The Temper Trap have proven that absence does make the heart fonder, with their third album offering Thick As Thieves (out now through Liberation Music) rocketing to the top of the ARIA Album Charts this week.

The album sees a triumphant return for the band after a four-year gap between albums two and three.  This number one chart debut is their second, with their platinum selling sophomore album The Temper Trap also debuting at number one on the ARIA Album Chart in 2012.

The Temper Trap said of the result; “It’s a great honour to see our album go to number one.  It was a labour of love putting it together and it’s a great feeling to have it out there. We can’t wait to come back and play more shows for everyone in Australia.  Thank you for your continued support through the years.”

Michael Gudinski, Managing Director of the Mushroom Group said; “There are probably few who have been anticipating the return of The Temper Trap more than me.  The boys have produced an album jam packed with anthems and it was well worth the wait.  I’m incredibly proud to see them back at the top of the Australian charts.”

Currently on a whirlwind of promotional activity in support of the release of their new album in the US and UK, the past few weeks have seen The Temper Trap appear on Conan, premiere their video for single Fall Together and perform sold out shows that led to the UK’s Independent declaring the band’s return “triumphant”.

Similarly, the album has garnered rave reviews globally;

“A monster – highly polished, filled with huge, arm-waving choruses” – Evening Standard

“Epic,” shimmering,” and “soaring” – we’re crumbled to cliches…” – VICE / Noisey

“[Thick As Thieves] is everything The Temper Trap do very well indeed.” – Herald Sun

“Pop-rock with a bright electronic sheen…”   – Pitchfork

“Songs filled with hope, raw energy and passion” – The Independent

“You’ll find yourself belting along” – Line of Best Fit

“This is rock at its most blinding.” – Fasterlouder

Upcoming months will see the band touring the UK, Europe and Asian festival circuit, with appearances locked in for some of the world’s premiere events, including Reading, Leeds, Lollapalooza, Pukkelpop and more.  From there they return to the US and Canada for an extensive run of headline shows through to mid-October.

Aussie fans won’t be neglected though, with the band promising a return before the year is out, with plans already afoot to book one of their most extensive Australian tours to date.
