A shimmering mix of jazz and sample heavy electronica. – Pigeons and Planes

From those first glitchy harp notes, “Anyway” seems to exist in some slinky, amorphous otherworld. – The Line Of Best Fit

With their debut EP TQ out today, and a recent string of successful shows in Melbourne and Sydney, Slum Sociable are pleased to confirm a return to local stages this November. The run will see the band play intimate gigs in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney and Fremantle, capped off with a performance at Disconnect Festival in WA.

Behind the buzz and mystique of Slum Sociable are long-term friends Edward Quinn and Miller Upchurch. Following the release of mini classics ‘Anyway ’ and ‘All Night’,  the pair today unveiled their debut EP TQ. Lead single, ‘All Night’ quickly spread online upon release, reaching the Top 5 of Hype Machine’s Popular Chart and also finding its way onto a bunch of radio playlists across the country.  Yesterday, they shared another taste from the EP online, ‘Paradigm’, which was premiered by Indie Shuffle and has already notched up a multitude of Soundcloud plays.

TQ was co-produced by Tom Iansek (Big Scary, #1 Dads) and recorded at Mixed Business (a little oasis in Melbourne’s northern suburbs), with Ed and Miller playing pretty much everything on the recordings themselves – music born in Melbourne with truly global appeal.

Live, the duo expand to an electrifying four-piece. They performed their first ever show at Sugar Mountain Festival with NAS, Aerial Pink, Odezsa etc, backing that up with a 10-date sold-out tour supporting #1 Dads in July and shows along Australia’s east cost in September (including a trio of packed-out gigs at BigSound).  Before the headline tour – next week in fact – Slum Sociable head to the US for five performances at CMJ.  They were also recently announced on the impressive  Laneway Festival line-up for 2016.

Tickets for the tour are on-sale now via slum-sociable.com . It’ll be a fresh of breath air.
