“Every now and then you hear a new voice and little else seems to matter. Julia Jacklin’s is one such voice.” The Guardian
“Makes me think of Angel Olsen meeting Fleetwood Mac on a dusty highway somewhere serene, and is really rather lovely” NME
“She’s set to have a stellar 2016” Consequence of Sound
Julia Jacklin continues her meteoric international rise, not only confirming an Australian/New Zealand label deal with Liberation Music and publishing deal with Mushroom Music; but also coveted international signings with Transgressive Records (UK/Europe) and Polyvinyl Records (North America).
The announcement of the signings cap off an unbelievable six months for Jacklin, who started the year as a relative unknown artist playing her first interstate shows in January. Since then, she’s gone onto play leading industry festivals, SXSW and The Great Escape, sign global label and agent deals, as well as perform sold out shows in Australia.
Hailing from Australia’s Blue Mountains, Julia Jacklin is a guitarist and singer songwriter like no other. Her music courses with the aching current of alt-country and indie-folk, augmented by her unique rich vocal and observational playful wit.
Her single ‘Pool Party’ has already gained worldwide attention with influential tastemakers NPR, Consequence Of Sound, DIY Mag, The 405, Noisey, to name a few, already singing her praises. She has piqued the interest of specialist radio gurus from Radio 1, triple j, BBC 6, triple j Unearthed (where she was recently named ‘Artist Of The Week’) and Apple Music UK who featured her single on their ‘Best New Artist’ playlist.
